Strega Nona

In dePaola’s award-winning book based on the classic tale: ‘the magic porridge pot’, Strega Nona, or ‘Grandma Witch’, is a nice old lady who cures the townsfolk’s headaches, finds them husbands and gets rid of their warts, using a little magic. She hires ‘Big Anthony’ to help her one day. There’s only one rule – never touch her pasta pot. But having seen her casting a spell to make dinner, Anthony cannot resist using it to show off to the townsfolk, with disastrous results.
