"Bringing Books to Children" Volunteer Projects

1. Book Covering:
   Volunteers will make plastic protective covers for books destined for our libraries serving children ages 0 to 11 year old and their families. Supplies for covering books are set up in our workroom at BMABHK. This is a fun work environment where BMABHK typically will provide refreshment and music. (2 hours)
   Time and date: to be scheduled



2. Book Case Assembly:
   When a recipient and a donor have been matched, we proceed to prepare the order for shipment. The volunteer will pull the books from the shelves and stack them according to orders being fulfilled. The volunteer will also place bookplates, which give recognition to the donor and the site, in all of the books as they are put in the boxes. (2 hours)

3. Adopt a Site:
   Volunteer will visit one of the sites in which we have Book Bag or Bookcase Libraries to check statues of books and replenish them. Volunteer’s work will be coordinated with and supervised by staff members of BMABHK. (2 hours)
   Time and date: flexible, about twice a year for one site



4. First Teachers Training:
   Volunteer will attend two half days First Teachers Train the Trainer workshop and gain a certificate after s/he completes all requirements of the workshop. Being a trainer, the volunteer will facilitate the First Teachers read aloud training for parents and caregivers at BMABHK or recipient sites. Staff members of BMABHK will coordinate the training and provide support to the volunteer. (3 days) (Experience of working with children or knowledge of child development is required)
